  • oil leak - passenger side of the block.

    Hi all,

My KZN130 has developed an oil leak that just got rather messy. I jet washed the engine (and pretty much the entire underside of the truck as it has been thrown everywhere after a trip down the motorway). Drove it to work and had another look. It looks as though its coming from the head gasket but as the oil pressure is ok (according to the dash anyway) and the engine isn't running hot at all, i'm questioning this. The oil ends up dripping down and off the gearbox (that foamy stuff is saturated). Read quite a few posts about oil leaks coming from the passenger side only and the oil filter is mucky but pretty sure it's not the origin, just a victim of oil splatter. The rocker cover is clean. Any thoughts people?! Many thanks in advance!!

    Rocker cover overtightened.

Do you have rear half moon seal (rocker cover) ?

the rocker cover was done with a torque wrench, but the oil isn't coming from that high up.

That looks very similar to my oil leak, and I cannot find where it's coming from either, looking from the top there is no sign of a leak, but there is from the bottom, and the truck doesn't seem to lose oil either. I know that a spoonful looks an awful amount when it spreads itself over the gearbox. I've had the leak ever since I bought the truck, (bought it with the leak), if you get a definitive location could you please post it on here. Thank you, arh

Power steering pump is a common problem that leaks oil that side of engine.
