Truck wouldn't start today just kept clicking checked voltage was fine gave the starter a few wacks and she's started. Turnt it on and off a few times same happened again. So is it worth buying the repair kit from rough trax or just a complete new starter??

I don't know an awful lot about it, but, I recently had my starter replaced by the guys at Over Fabrications. I rely on my Surf daily for work and don't have time for it to be a 'project' at the moment.

For me, replacing it was the only option. Unless you can afford the time to take the old one off, refurb it and replace?

I hope that one day my Surf will become more of a project, it's certainly a way of life! F**k the mpg!! (I try and offset my carbon foot print !)

Its even more worth buying a repair kit from ebay. If you have the 3.0litre its fairly easy access to the starter and a simple fix.

Ordered one that's cheap and only the main parts you need. Looks like I got a busy Saturday. Doing a full service with cambelt and now a starter to repair lol
