at least you will know it has been done properly and last a long while. Have some things to sort on mine but it can wait until the October school break, can take it off the road for a few days then.

Got the truck back together and running. Took it for an MOT today and it passed Bloody brilliant!
The only concern I have at the moment is the bottom hose is not warming up.
I took the thermostat out and checked it in boiling water with a thermometer, that is OK. Filled the water up via the heater hose slowly and revved her up a bit to get any air out. The heater is blowing hot and after searching on here for similar experiences I may be worrying unduly. I am going to fit an after market temp gauge this week as I have not put any anti freeze in yet.
The truck is pulling really well, I also took off the EGR whilst I had the head off.
Very Very happy, I love my Surf
I must thank everyone who contributes to this site, it helped immensely over the past couple of months. The info I gleaned from here was invaluable and the reason I paid my dues in membership.
Thanks
Dave

Fitted the sender. Had thought about cutting the hose and inserting an adaptor, but opted to fit in the aluminium boss. The trick is to machine the top face as a sealing face, bore out the boss from 13.5mm to 14mm. Keep the same depth of boss that is cast in. Tap the boss M15 X 1. This way you do not compromise the strength of the boss. Make up or purchase an M15 X 1 to 1/8" NPT reducer to fit the sensor. Put a copper washer between the aluminium boss and reducer boss that acts as seal, as the thread is not tapered and may leak.

This was the easiest place to fit the gauge and pod I bought off ebay for £18.00. Just need to get insurance sorted and road tax.
