  • Just a quick question....

My Surfy just went through it's MOT with not a single advisory. V.happy of Surrey.

However, it is a bit smokey, when the turbo kicks in. Not blue smoke, just a small amount of black. Just wondering if the injectors need a refurb and seeking any advice on where to send them.

Do Surfs need their injectors cleaned fairly reguarly or just once in a while. Any suggestions appreciated.

Just another thought, I do appreeciate this could be normal, as it is a big old lump to get moving...

The engine on this thing seems to be semi-indestructable. Amazing bit of engineering.

    Many thanks
    Mike

        Smoking

It is less smokey after a hi speed run but the wallet suffers too....

Sounds like the injectors could do with a re-furb. They start to clog up @ around 100,000 kms and then they dribble instead of atomise the fuel.

Jumping in here, can I ask how to refurb the injectors?
My ones will be out soon when the head comes off so it might be worth doing them.
            Cheers.

There's companies that do that, you send them your injectors and they send you a set of refurbished ones.
If you do a search there's a couple of UK ones mentioned on here.
I considered doing that when I had a similar issue, plus a slight diesel knock on cold start, for a few seconds.
I used an injector cleaner called Penn, similar to redex or forte, at double the recommended dilution ( I put a bottle in half a tank rather than a full tank) and it has sorted the problem.
I now use it quite often coz diesel here is filthy.
Maybe give it a try before you send the injectors away...cheaper
              Cheers
