Photos can be deceptive sometimes.
More importantly, keep an eye on the hose ends for the next couple of days.
Any weird of unusual gear changes or slipping gears and you had better check the ATF level.

I think those pipes will get damaged by crap from the road as they look very exposed to me.
Braided pipes would be better here I think.
Just one question, why can't the standard in rad cooler be ditched for a external one to stop the possibility of strawberry milkshake in the tranny should the rad fail?
That's what I was thinking of doing on my 3rd gen.

That's what I was thinking of doing on my 3rd gen.
You can do that no problem, but don't get a cooler that's too big and mount it behind the grille in front of the main radiator.
A 13 or maybe a 15 row cooler is all you need.
If you plan on some heavy towing, a small electric cooling fan mounted in front of the cooler, thermostatically switched, to push air through it as a back-up to the engine fan.
