  • 3.0 getting hot when towing.

A friend of mine has a 3.0 surf and it keeps getting hot when towing his boat, its fine when driving normally, just overheats when he is on long journeys towing his boat. I don't have much more info at the mo, but any ideas what could be causing it? He used to have a 2.4 like mine and never had a problem!

Could just be in need of a full service and flush on all liquids.
Mine tows just fine and the temp needle only goes over half way when climbing steep hills.

How good is the boats trailer?
With backing them into water are the brakes sticking?

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll pass them on, and also do a search on the fan issue.

          Cheers!

also do the torque converter mod. will stop the crappy auto cooler design from heating the rad up... have have some huge, steep long hills near me, that would occasional do this, now locking in 2nd sees me up them all fine with no issues.
