    Help please. New to this

    What oil for a 1994 3.0 Diesel and how much.

    10W/30 or 40 will do. Change it often and you don't need the pricey stuff.

      Interestingly I had a conversation with Mobil 1 technical a few years back about 10/40 and 10/30 and turbos...they were firmly of the belief that the 40 was the way to go...annoyingly I can't recall why now!

      Oh, I new there was a point to this post....the synthetic has better resistance to burning in the turbo and has a life of circa 10,000 miles (depending on the vehicle and driver), ordinary mineral oil turns slightly acidic in 3,000 - 6,000 miles.

      On the mineral non-turbo diesels I've had before I dump the oil every 4,000...avoids sludging nicely.

        I used 15w40, oil is oil when old diesels are concerned cheap & cheerful will do!
