Help please coolant boiling!!!

Guys

My trucks heating stopped working the other day (ice cold) and i noticed my engine tempreture is very high went into the red at one point, had my suspicions that i pipes may be blocked or a general coolant change (age unknown)

but today i made a 20 min rush hour journey and when i got home the coolant in the expansion tank was boiling and coming out of the overflow pipe

is this more than a coolant change??

please help

Sounds more likely to be head cracked to be honest.

i was really hoping you wouldn't say that, i ve heard stories, i there anyway i can check shall i jus look for a crack?

I got one off ebay for about £55, worth doing just to be sure it's the head.

Top up and bleed the coolant system. make sure the rad finns are not blocked with dirt. If you have been kicking its arse on the journey home the trans oil heat going through the rad will up the coolant temp.

Run a coolant system pressure check, see if its losing pressure. This can be done at a local garage for little or no expense. Inspect the system and the cap for holding pressure. Inspect coolant system for leaks. Rad, cap, header tank, and all hoses. remember to look at the cab heaters to.

Try to keep an eye on the temp gauge don't let it go above 3/4 before switching of the engine and letting it cool down.

It sounds like a head, or head gasket fault with what you have described but you might be lucky and find something with the above checks.
