  • New Fuel Filter Now Dripping

    Hi,

Got may car through it's MOT yesterday, and she's been running fine to date.

Just fitted a new fuel filter and there's a constant drip drip drip from the drain plug.

Everything seems to have been reassembled correctly, and not over-tightened. Gaskets are intact and gave them a smear of diesel before fitting.

Car's been starting and running great, but after fitting new filter it was a pig to start. Just on crank emptied the filter. removed, refitted, primed and then needed to crank and pump the primer to get her to catch. Once running, she runs fine with no drips. Shut her off and the drip is back.

I've had a trawl of the forum, but can't find this type of fault.

What am I missing? Any help is much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Alan

Is/was the 'O' OK on the drain plug?

Bushwhacker, Yep - spot on. I'd just looked to see if it was perished. Checked it more closely after your suggestion and it's lost its round cross section. New one fitted - no more drips!

      Many thanks.
