    GEN 3 SURF 3.0TD KNZ 185

im after any info that will help me do a D I Y replacement
of the rear drive shaft oil seal.

thought to be a leaking brake cylinder now to discover the seal in the drive shaft on the driver side may be leaking .
going to do them both prevention may may be the ticket here .

Toyota dealer part is 12 squid so not that bad really

    any help

The seal is probably leaking because the bearing is worn and the shaft is moving around, but they are tricky to change as you need a special tool and a press to get them off properly. Once the drum is off hold the hub and try and pull it in and out, 1mm or more of play and it needs a new bearing.

The redneck way is the cut the collars and bearing off with a grinder, but really carefully.

Mine went a couple of years ago but I decided to let the garage do them, cost about £50 inc parts & I've never had a problem with them since.
If its not broke don't fix it.
