speedo again as one would expect

hi
can anyone throw some light on my speedo
surf 130 1994
after it stopped working i put a new speedo sensor
in it made no differance so i changed the speedo
cluster that done the trick but after 5/6 miles it stopped
again
anyone got any ideas

Has the speedo face been replaced ie duel marked or does it still have the kmh scale and electronically converted to mph if its the latter the conversion chip could be faulty if its got one its easy enough to check there should be 2 wires from the chip going to one of the original speedo wires that would have been cut reconnect the cut wire and the speedo should run in kmh as the chip if the chip is faulty if it still does not work then sender, wiring or speedo head may be faulty.

I have the same problem and to make it worse I am trying to sell it....I checked all the conections on the back of the Speedo but it could be the convertor,,,if not i am also stumped..

i goner jack it up over this week sometime
put it on axle stands and fiddle with all the cons
with it running
as they say in rome [i fiddle while someone watches]
