  • looking to buy - should I worry about 100k mileage?

    Hi all!
I haven't been here for a while...the surf fever is getting to me again. But all 3rd gen available are now 100K and above.
    Should this worry me?

    many thanks to you all!

100,000 km is close to 62,000 miles. On an old diesel that's pretty low mileage.

Mine is on 184,000 miles, runs sweet as. If it has been looked after, 100,000 kms is nothing to worry about.

Mine will be for sale soon. As soon as I put a new seal on the front of the gearbox that is, I'd feel guilty letting it go like that (unless the person was prepared to do it)

            136500kms, yes KILOMETRES!

Everything working well. New battery, alternator, belts, water pump, wipers, exhaust. Only problems are a few little dents and a crack in the rear wheel arches. Such a shame I cracked them but they're easily hiddden.
            Still Can't believe I own a Hilux

              Milage

              Hi

You do not say if it is 100K miles or km. Mine has 170000 MILES are has only just given problem on fuel pump but I do run 100% straight veg oil.

I know this is an old(ish) thread but... mine is just coming up for 250,000kms, still pulls like a train and doesn't use a sniff of oil between services.

More reliable than my new vans!!

                    Don't worry,mines got 190KM,has an oil change every 5 - 6 km,it runs like a new engine,100% reliable,never had the rocker cover off!
Brand new renault Kangoo which my company gave me from brand new,66,000 miles it ingested its own turbo, £1650.00 bill,Peugeot Expert that got to 47,000
before it had major ECU issues, wouldn't start etc, drastic over fuelling etc etc,
by 53,000 had £3500 worth of major engine work including new head.
Kind of makes the Toyota Surf a legend!!

Echo what corsetts said, mines now showing 242,400 Km's and doesn't use a drop of oil between services.

Just a pity that the previous owner didn't grease or lubricate anything when it was serviced... Still, it's not as if parts are that expensive.
