  • Pump Problems

Hi folks not been around here for a long time as I have shifted job and all sorts of stuff but anyhow………….back now and hope everyone is doing ok in the UK (not liking the cold weather at the least …)
Right here we go then and surprise surprise I have a couple of questions ……
Ok here we go. I have finally got around to having a bit of a look at my surfs (both 3.0 one with a 2” lift and the other about 5 or 6 if I remember right) and well I suppose first things first.

I seem to have a leak on the diesel pump (pic1) and without getting into it its either the top seal or the ring seal on the solenoid as it doesn’t seem to be from the bottom of it (they did have a have a battering being heavily loaded and doing over 2000Km coming back over and again 3 years on rough roads….I have tried roughtrax and milers, they don’t have the parts and well.... Toyota at Sight hill Edinburgh are still trying to sort out which truck I have and trying to flog me a whole pump or send it away. I have also tried Toyotadiy and can’t seem to find the part numbers for the seals (pic4)soooo…… anyone got any suppliers that they could put me in touch with as I am still getting to grips with being back over here.
Also two more things.... anyone any idea what this is? (Pic5) Found it with a vac hose attached when delving at the fuel pump looks like it should be attached to something (looks like something kinda important)

    Same thing (pic2)

And last of all got some issues with the suspension / emissions on the more lifted truck which made it flunk its MOT(think its about 5/6”) and was thinking about maybe making one good one in the springtime or getting it sorted……looking like oil going to the turbo and this may be knacked (pic3) ?

Oh and does anyone maybe have 4 16” speaker mounts for the doorcards knocking around in their shed?

As always folks many thanks in advance!

      Hiya Rob,Hows everyone.
The 5th pic is just the top of the old original shock absorber which you can take off completely.
I thought milners or roughtrax did the seal kit for the fuel pump. Its normally just a top seal thats gone iirc and can be done with the pump in situ.
I will have a look and see if i can find the part numbers for you and let you know

yea all OK just settling in over here is taking a bit of getting used to. thanks for the info was getting a bit worried as to what it was and tried the usually places for the seals but ur they only have them for the 2.4 apparently the 3.0 is different. have contacted a guy on eBay so fingers crossed. would be OK but can't use the other truck at the moment. haven't had a chance to look through old posts yet but hope you're doing alright and your old man is keeping well.

ROB! How the devil are you? It's funny you should come back just now; on Thursday, I'm off home for a few days...

IIRC, the pump seal kits are the same. I got both of mine (2.4 and 3.0)from Milners, the kit has 2 top cover seals, use the different coloured one. None of the kits contain the circular seal for the solenoid thing. It's a standard sized seal, so you should be able to pick one up easily enough.

Hi Andy, Hope your doing well. Been up to all sorts and back to Edinburgh for a recruiting job for a couple of years. Family fine and enjoying it here appart from the rain and the cold! thanks for the info on the seals, I will get that ordered today and do u reckon one of the other seals in the pack would fit the solenoid?

No, none of the others will fit. I have no idea why they don't supply that one!

Thanks much appreciated….strange that they wouldn’t include it ……can’t seem to find it on milners site though…. is this the same? https://www.roughtrax4x4.com/index.php? doc=16&cid=602&vid=1242 might be able to get one from a pump specialist but don’t know the part number for the pump which is a bit of a pain but I think this is it http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_199308_TOYOTA_HILUX_ KZN130R-GKMSXW_2202.html?hl= 9017908022

I'm pretty sure that's the kit. Although I couldn't work out which seal folk said they used, so I bought one separately.

Thanks for all the help folks. managed finally to get 2 places that were helpful enough to get the right seals one down south that did all the seals for £35 & another place up here in Edinburgh that sold them individually & who were very helpful and also recondition the pumps for a pretty reasonable price . The one up here is Lawson diesel injection Ltd Edinburgh and will put up the other when I find the bit of paper I wrote it down on haha... finally might have a working truck tomorrow fingers crossed.
