    Hi

Has anyone done a mod or changed the fitting for another model so that the lights come on when the doors open? is it normal that the gen2 only has the two push buttons?

    cheers

Some have an extra switch in the middle and the lights come on when the doors are opened. The map lights can still be switched on independantly.

        Short answer:
        Yes.

        Long answer:
Quite possibly. The actual light fitting is exactly the same as yours and I wouldn't have thought Toyota would have wired it differently to the other type.

on mine (without the centre switch) took out the little clip from rear centre then gently prised the housing off with a wide screwdriver
