  • Kickdown cable

I bought '93 3.0L auto 6 months ago. Just had it serviced and been informed that the kickdown cable is snapped. It's not covered by the warranty and I can't honestly say if was ok when I bought the car so I'm a little bit pi**ed off. I am waiting for a quote to replace it. Has anyone had similar problem, is it particularly expensive or difficult to fix or is it a straight forward DIY job?

      Kickdown cable

According to Oz`s finest ,Max Ellery, its a `box sumppan off job. This will probably mean a new sump gasket and fresh ATF.When its back together,it`ll need adjusting to match the engine speed to the road speed to the gearbox pressure.Basically, the cable alters the shifting speeds of the box by regulating the hydraulic pressure along with the engine ECU.Its normally less aggro to let your local auto-box specialist do the job,as they`ve got the gear to set the cable up when its been replaced. When its adjusted correctly, there is a small ferrule that should be crimped on to the cable to give a setting distance for any future adjustment.Hope that helps.
