  • Valve shim clearance questions

I pulled my valve cover off this evening to check my valve shim clearance, and I am a little unclear as to how to interpret the results. There are many shims out of spec, but how big of an issue is it?

The manual calls for an inlet range of 0.20-0.30mm and outlet range of 0.25-0.35mm

    I measured:
    1 in: 0.279mm
    1 out: 0.178mm
    2 in: 0.216mm
    2 out: 0.216mm
    3 in: 0.203mm
    3 out: 0.191mm
    4 in: 0.203mm
    4 out: 0.178mm

You can see that the outlet clearances are all smaller than the inlet clearances; directly opposite to the way it was intended. Smaller clearance than spec just means the valve is opening further than intended, right? Should I care? Would this equate to faster spring wear?

This head is a fully loaded replacement unit. The previous owner thought from RoughTrax.
