  • fuel gauge stuck on empty...

I've seen a fair few posts about the general hit and miss state of affairs with the fuel gauges, but not many members have mentioned their gauge getting stuck on empty; any ideas if this is likely to be the float jammed down? A female friend's truck, and she's getting panicky about running out on a motorway

Check the electrical connection on top of the tank, the terminals can corrode quite badly. You can access it via the removable inspection plate under the rear seat.
Or, fill the tank (expensive I know) to see if the float frees itself off the bottom.

Ok, mate- will check the connection today, I guessed that suggesting filling the tank wasn't meant in a tongue in cheek way, but she has done that several times,

        Hi Flarris,

Have you managed to solve this issue? I have exactly the same today. fulfilled the tank and the gauge still down, with light on.

        thank you

Mine too seems to be sticking at the bottom, only happened since the snow and freezing weather has set in

The gauge went back up slowly after 500km, and nicer weather.
anyway the problem of gauge stuck happened after having the car on reserve for 10days during the winter.
