  • Tailgate window problems.

I have been having problems with my tailgate window refusing to open, or to shut, without manual assistance.
This culminated in it staying shut permanently.
As I need to open it to get into the back of the vehicle, its a nuisdance.

Had it looked at and apparently there is no problem with the wiring , or the motor, but a "box in the side panel seems to have fried".
I assume this is a computer control of the window function.

Has anybody else experienced this and if so, where did they get a "box" from ?

Just to humour an old fool, turn your rear windscreen wiper on and off before you start replacing things.. The control box is behind the nearside panel in the boot. To get to that, you will need the tailgate open. Take off the trim panel from the inside, then the metal panel thats behind that. you will need a 12v source (not too meaty) and some wire, and then you can power the window down (and back up again if you cant fix it first go.) Take the trim off across the top and bottom of the back of the boot and the seat belt retainer and the trim just inside the back door, then the big panel will unclip once you have removed the screw at the top that was hidden by the panel with the back interior light. Now unclip the cubby hole and tucked away in the corner is the control box. Have fun.
    it's in me shed, mate.

      Thanks for the response.
The rear window wiper works fine, although the connection is a bit lost on me.

I would still like to know where I can obtain the "box", is this going to be a breakers yard thing, or are they available ?
