Bizzare Oil Leak

Hi, My Surf is leaking oil on the left hand side (passenger side), dripping down onto the engine mount and onto the half shaft. Its enough to leave wet patches on the driveway.

Now my engine shows no signs of leaking oil from any of the gaskets and is clean. I have dipped the engine oil, gear box and front diff all ok. The leaking oil is thick and black.

Any ideas where it can be coming from, I had the starter overhauled and the leak started shortly after that.

Any ideas as i am stumped.?

Check filter like Vince said, but also check the power steering pump, they often leak from the back and need all the o-rings renewing, and it is in the right place for the leak.

Just one idea that may be useful to you and that's don't look up at the oil leak with your eyes open.Ask TonyN what happens.....

if its not power steering pump id say either the rocker cover gasket is leaking and if that is defo good then its only a couple of things left a split hose from the inlet or wait for it head gasket mines just done the same on the driver side but that was due to mine over heating and killing the head aswell as the gasket.

my bad didnt realise it was the 3.0l vince is probably right then with the filter

Thanks for all the tips I`ll get back out there, I bought my son Black Ops at the weekend so i was lured away from the pooter to play it last night. So sorry for the delay in replying. I`ll let you know when i find out where its coming from.

Yes its my oil filter, the drain pipe ends exactly where the mess begins. . Just changed the oil and fitted a new filter. Job done.

My baby aint busted !!!
