What is that red button for?????

I've bought a surf 3.0 and I'm going to Morocco week tuesday but I would really like to know what the red button by the gear lever is for. Is It to do with the 4wd?? The handbook is in Japanese and I'm still waiting for the english version. So can anyone out there help?

Its to let you move the gear selector when the ignition is off. Useful when fitting stereos etc.

Normally its locked in P until you press the brake pedal.
