Is it possible to 'fix' a leaking injector pump without replacing the top seal?

    Hi Albannach,

I had a leaking pump during the cold spell earlier
this year, it would leak on start up but stop, if I stopped
and re started the engine after about 2 mins.
I put 1/2 ltr of ATF plus 250ml of Redex diesel treatment
in 1/2 a tank and it stopped in 2 days, it's not dripped a
    drop since.

    Gman.
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

I'll give that a go. I'm running with quite a high ratio of Veg in it at the moment, so that's probably what broke them. I'll maybe just do the seals and be done.

just changing the top seal is a doddle on EFI trucks, its nothing to worry about.

I was just wondering if there was a quick fix for them, something I could have done at work tonight.

My problem now is that I can't find anyone that sells them.

Hey Albannach, if you can get me the numbers from the side of the seal I should be able to source one. (obviously the problem then is that you have the pump in bits if I can't get it to you for a few days or at all).

            Let me know,

            Ray.
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

I think that's where mine is leaking from, but I'll change the top seal too. Maybe just bite the bullet and buy them from Toyota?

Thanks for the offer Ray, I'll let you know. As you say, the problem is having the truck laid up for too long.

The lid seal is the wriggly shaped one in this kit, not sure you can buy it individually from Toyota.

I saw that one, but it only says 2.4 and 2.8. Will it do a free leeter too?

yeah, thay are all the same pump bodies, i'd guess they are just set up differently inside for different capacity engines.

Note, it dosn't actually include the o-ring for the PRM sensor plug, but they are only an o-ring and easy to find. but the lid cover is the important one.

Does anyone know the dimensions for that PRM seal? I'll either go make one or get one from the workshops later tonight.

Nick loads in various sizes, handy to have 'o' rings.

BTW, I have more 'bits' for your project Andy.

I'll swap em for a loan of you Halfords card.
