  • Rear crankshaft oil seal

Apparently mine seems to be a bit emotional and is weeping uncontrollably. So I have 2 questions.

1 - How long would it take to change (no ramps)?

2 - How much would you expect to pay a dealer to do it?

no idea what a dealer would charge, its quite labour intensive.

I charge £200 to remove and replace a surf gearbox, they are heavy feckers when doing on your own without a lift!

I allow at least all day to do one.

The reason I ask is that I had the steering recall done today and the report said I needed a rear crank seal, the main dealer quote was £143.20 plus VAT. There's no way I'd do it myself if it was as cheap as that!

I'm going to do 2 things tomorrow, check the seal is gubbed and double check that price. If the seal is gubbed and the price is correct, it'll be done next week!

If it is correct Andy I would suggest that is a ###### bargain!

Just a thought, is that for the seal and they still have to add the labour?

I asked that too, it's all in, but without VAT.

I'd get it done at that price, too much grief doing it yourself.

You found a storage space yet?

No, really struggling. Going to see who owns the Nissen hut at the back of Bulloch's tomorrow. Will let you know ASAP, tomorrow PM at the latest. Are you working tomorrow?
