Last question. The vacuum solenoids are back on and all is running fine but just want to check something. One solenoid is black and the other is a reddish brown. Which solenoid is connected via the vacuum pipe to which vacuum chamber on the throttle body. ie does the black one connect to the top or bottom vacuum chamber. Ta.

I have no idea which is black and which is brown but the VSV that is outer most from centre of engine is the one connected to lower chamber. That's what the diagram says anyway.

Thanks for that but I am not sure which goes to where as in as much as which solenoid switches what valve. I guess I will just to swap them around and try it.

Well just to update. On start up the engine was hunting a bit so I swapped over the vacuum pipes and now it starts and runs lovely. Just need to investigate the check light now.

Will do just as soon as my wife gets back. Looking after my daughter, 1 dog, 5 chicks, 4 pullets and 5 chickens plus feeding next doors cats and taking my daughter to swimming lessons and dancing lessons whilst also trying to earn a living is driving me mad. I need a break. Anyway, she is back on Thursday so I will take a piccy then or soon after.
