Just refitted my 1994 3.0 engine in my Surf and connected most things up. However, there are 2 solenoids that have a vacuum pipe going to the valve on the throttle body. Both solenoids have an electrical connection. I can't remember where the solenoids locate and the correct routing of the vacuum hoses. They seem to want to locate on the rocker cover but I don't remember them being there. Anyone have an idea? Many Thanks.

AC idle vacuum advance?
Hi,
Sounds like one of them is the throttle advance that is designed to kick in if you turn on the AC at idle.
On a 3L n/a engine (LN130) it would be located on the LHS of engine block as you look into the engine bay (RHS of car, if that makes sense) about 30cm down from memory. It should have a little bracket of sorts and be secured with a damned big bolt going horizontally into the block. It should have a single vacuum feed coming from about 20cms directly below it (so from the LHS of the engine again), 1 port N/C and then a second long vacuum hose that runs over the top of the rocker cover to the other side of the enginer to connect to the 2" diameter flying saucer shaped actuator next to the throttle.
Cheers,
Ptarmigan

I was in the same boat on sunday... There is a a bolt hole in the back of the ally pipe from the turbo to the TB, I bolted them on there. Doesn't look quite right, but it works... As for the vacuum pipes, I didn't disconnect them so cant be much help..it's in me shed, mate.

Thanks for all the replies. I forgot that I had a manual on CD so looked at that and it shows clearly where they go. Been a while since I had a Surf. Last one was a 2.4. Hope this 3.0 TD will tow the boat better than the LandRover which I need to sell. I just ordered the last couple of shims for the tappets and will hopefully have it running tomorrow.
While I'm here, anyone know what thread the grease bolts are on the top and bottom ball joints as I want to fit grease nipples.
