t belt dash light

Hello everyone, just taken delivery of a 1996 3.0 Surf, after our long term 2.4 which covered around 60000 trouble free miles, we simply had to get the later model, as we loved the old one so much.
Anyway, just a quick question, I've just removed the instument cluster, in order to delete the t belt warning light, when moving the reset screw into the opposite hole do you actually leave the screw in this hole permanently or once screwed in, do you then back it off and replace back into the original bottom hole. The top hole is still factory sealed so hopefully the truck has covered a genuine 50000 miles.

as far as i know just put the screw into the opposite hole till the tbelt needs doing again then its put back again.I may be wrong but thats the way i read it on here myself

yep, stormforce is dead on.
Just remove the screw, put it in the other hole and leave it in. It will then come on again in 60,000 miles (100,000kms). I
f you screw it in to reset the light and them remove it then the light won't come on again to remind you in 60,000 miles (guess how I know that)

Stormforce, Hawaii, many thanks for your reply, the screw is now located in the opposite hole and the "t belt" light has been extinguished, fingers crossed the truck will go for another 60000, thanks again.

happy to help, mine has just been in for it's 120,000 mile cambelt & tensioner change. Ws going to do it myself but the kit was £85.00 inc tensioners and the local surf specialist supplied & fitted it for £112.00, wasn't worth getting my hands dirty.

Garage did say it's one of the easiest to do and the old belt was in OK condition as were the tensioners but they recomend changing them every 120,000 miles.

don't worry, you'll have no problems seeing at least double that mileage - they are brill trucks
