Just putting the final bits back on the engine since replacing the head, and was wondering do I need to take apart the cam cover - the long bit that screws to the top of the cover - and clean out? I assume it's some type of filter assembly. Many thanks in advance and to all that have given advice for my head replacement,

    Cheers, Nick

Its the 'filter' for a crankcase vent system. it dosn't normally need messing with unless you have excess crankcase pressure and think its gummed up, but its only a course wire gauze, to help stop oil running out breather pipe as it splashes around the cam.

Thanks Tony, I'll leave it alone then.

I did get some contamination to the oil from water when the head went, and have drained it all out, but when I fill up again do I need to run for a while and replace again, or should it just be fine to fill up with decent oil and carry on as normal?

      Cheers, Nick
