What are these?

Hi All,

Still struggling to find the cause of the issues I've had from day one with my truck.

By chance I was looking under the bonnet of Joymic's truck over the weekend and noticed there was a slight difference to mine. Can any of you Surf guru's out there tell me what the two pipes are in the first photo? The second photo is of my truck, which as you can see, doesn't have these. As far as I know/knew, the only difference between Jomic's truck and mine is that he has cruise control and I don't.

they run coolant round the intake to warm the air going in.

they seem to be deleted on the last year of the second gens, and I can't rememebr seeing a 3rd gen with them.
