  • My Aunt Sally

    Hi all,

I'm attaching a link to some pics ....

    http://www.cig.canon-europe.com/p?p=EUCXrQFu3tz

I hope the link works ... I don't know how else to get photos in a thread.

Anyway, I thought I'd show it off. I took pictures this morning before the heavens opened and it all going white again. As soon as I get her back from the hands of the mechanic we'll be off ............ .. all over the place.

If you do have a look, glance at the photo of the nearside battery and tell me if I am correct, it not right! I'm about to get 2 new batteries, unless someone got 2 to sell, from ...

    http://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/buy...s/prod_53.html

the price looks good ..... Anyone agree?

Steve, the mechanic is giving the beast a complete inspection and service and he says that he is busy replacing/refixing/fitting loose items and missing bolts etc ....... loves the car and has told me that his brother wants first refusal when I come to sell it!

One thing, a bit of a niggle ..... he doesn't seem to fussed about renewing the timing belt. Says that the light hasn't come up and it all looks ok ... me not so sure (I think it's done 160,000 or so miles). What you reckon?

if you on about the way the battery terminals are then that is the correct battery for that side. The o/s battery looks to of had the leads extended to reach the terminals on that battery but don't worry about it anyway. If both batteries are charging etc then leave them fitted.Normally surf batteries are handed

As other have said, the O/S one has the terminals round the wrong way, but this is no reason to bin it, the cables do reach, unless the battery is fooked as well.

If you're buying new ones, is nicer to get the correct handed batteries for each side, you're not stretching the cables then.

Thanks for that .... much appreciate the comments. I have been told that the electrics are fine, the glow plugs are healthy so I think I'll invest in a nice new pair and get the wiring correct. The only problem is the starting which takes 2-3 goes and about 10-15 attempts before it fires up and stays running. But once the engine is warm it fires up without any problems. The batteries are getting past it so time to get card out of pocket.

The mechanic was seething. There was a lot of rattling and it seems that a lot of attachment bolts were either loose or missing or worse in wrong position ... so he's been enjoying himself getting the old dear feeling less run down. I understand the front CV joints are not sealed correctly so this might put a further dent in enthusiasm but it has to pass it's MOT ............ that said, the brakes are in reasonable nick.

So I reckon, for the little amount I paid for it and adding up all the costs, I might be onto a winner .... anyone want to buy my Ford Ranger

shame on you, my Ranger is an It can't help the way it is (and someone had to give it a home). Wife, Jenny, came in last night smiling away and describing how she had to use 4x4 drive as it snowing again! She likes Aunt Sal even more than me which is a bit of a plus as we going to sell her car as well. Anyone want a Mitsubishi Spacestar ..... genuine reason for sale lolol
