  • Oops (Broken Surf!!)

    Could this be why my cam belt snapped??

    How much movement should the tensioner ram have? Mine only has about 4-5mm.

    Turned the camshaft over, no jams at all, turns through 720 degrees no problem.

    Should be alright to stick another belt on, and fire the beast up!! What do people reckon?

    You got nothing to lose by putting a new tensioner etc on it and good luck with it and hope it runs ok for you

      That's what happened to the van I drive for work when the belt snapped at 40mph, I heard a bang, stopped, got towed to the yard the lads stripped the head and the cam was in three bits and a smashed piston, How fast was you going?

        Good luck mate - mine has just snapped an completely killed the whole thing. Have a bent shim here with a huge dent where the cam has hit an the bucket the shim sits in is smashed in half.......

        Glad to hear yours seems ok.
        How can I be lost when I've got no where to go

          Paul - here's a bit of back ground information;

          Stormforce - in your large selection of spares, would you have a replacement cam belt cover, and maybe the tensioner (i presume the bracket thing doesn't come in a cam belt kit?)
