Block heater for a kzn-130

Hello Surfers,

I am trying to find myself a freezplug style block heater for my 3.0L's first Canadian winter. My local part store and Toy dealer didint have anything for me, Except the coolant warmer and sticky heat pad generic styles.

But i would prefer the factory installed freeze plug styled one. Could anyone point me in the right direction.

And while I have some peoples attention, What are your guys thoughts on some of these American built 4runner lifts? Would they be compatible with my surf?

I want a factory style one that fits in the core plug hole. It keeps the engine at operating temp if you plug it in when its still warm.

Ah, got you, I know what core plugs are. I've never seen a heater that fits in there, not to say they don't exist though. Most of the one's I've seen splice into a handy hose and heat the coolant. Have you tried eBay?

You do know that core plugs (which the Surf has) are not anything other than plugs to seal casting holes?

Yeah, But that is where you install a real block heater. Which a dealership should be able to supply, If they actually service Surfs. Its a real common part to find around here for most any car, Except my surf

I was under the impression that quite a few surfs came from the factory with a cold weather package that included a block heater.

Quick search turned these guys up, it's not something I've ever looked for before but I think this is the sort of thing your after (or not), reading their site they do these block heater things you speak of but it looks like you may have to phone them for specifics.

The only thing I can think of is like Albannach mentioned where we splice a preheater into the coolant hose and it just plugs in over night keeping the coolant and block at a constant temp, my dad used one on his frontera and was an really good peice of kit but pricey, I think the company name of that one was Kenlow or something like it anyway.

A crew called Artic Trucks who fitted up the toyota hiluxes for Top Gear, the UK tv show when they did the Polar Race episode have a good website and some fantastic gear for you lucky surfers who have snow,anyway its worth a look at both top gear and the artic truck site.In australia we pay cash for new fruit for our surfs then hide it in a shed for some months,then when the wife finally spots the offending object,and say's' is that new' we can truthfully say 'no I have had it for months'.I haven't worked out how to do this with paypal though

Do a search over on ih8mud, yotatech or toyotadiesel. They have plenty of info regarding block heaters and suppliers.

Thanks for the advice, Im just working through all these leads now. Ill let you guys know what i find out.
