  • 4x4 lLights blinking

Hi I have a problem with the 4x4 selection on my 99 series 3 the 4x4 lamps blink all the time I just went and pressed the button as normal and the lights blinked as usual however the diff lock stayed engaged and the blue ADD solenoid is permanently powered resulting in the add sleeve being engaged all the time, I got the front to disengage temporally by rerouteing the vacuum pipes and today checked the diff lock engagement motor which works fine in both directions on and off so I have left it in the off position I have checked both the switches on the diff lock actuator they are both working fine and the ADD engagement switch on the front diff which is also ok, even when selecting 4x4 high or low the actuator motor now is receiving no power.
I am beginning to think the 4x4 ecu may be totalled does any body know if the system is run directly from the ecu or is there a relay I cannot find that controls the switching.

After spending Saturday rolling around underneath checking things its turned out to be a faulty winding on the actuator motor it stick s occasionally in one place I can move the rack on a bit manually and it carrys on for the rest of its travel because I have stripped the actuator and may have trouble re timing it reckon a second hand transfer box may be the easiest way to go.
