Stereo/TV using same aerial issue!

hi guys

can someone tell me if i can use the same car aerial that picks up radio aswell as using the aerial so i can pick up tv channels using this car stereo & dvb car tuner box? i ask this because i dont want to faff about with the external aerial thats supplied with the car dvb box as you constantly have to move it about along with the cable dangling everywhere!

Do they say you can use a standard car radio antenna?

Edit: What relevance does this have to a 3.0L Surf, btw? There are more appropriate sections of the forum for this question.

TV and radio waves have different lengths, so you may or may not get a decent picture if using a radio antenna for TV, plug it in and try, it won't damage your equipement.

Its not a simple answer. However, it *may* work OK. It kind of depends.

You car aerial is usually somewhere under 1/4 wavelength for FM radio. It is somewhere over (but not by much) 1/4 wavelength for analogue TV (what's digital? Is that up around 700MHz?), so it will 'work'. It will not be optimum however. If you want a good pic on something larger than 6 or 7" screen, you'll probably need a dedicated TV antenna.

Tis indeed the wrong place for this though. Perhaps 'general'. That covers everything from'what mobile phone is coolest' through 'what's the fastest you've gone on GT3' to 'why do people post in the wrong section?'

If you need to purchase a dedicated Tele aerial, they do some nice ones that sit right across the top of your windscreen (inside) and are not noticeable at all.

no it doesnt work. i just tried on mine and it did nothing. you need a proper tv aerial.
by the way how is your E1026 going? i just bought the new E1025 and its a pile of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im having to take it back now. 2 days old and already has about 8 things wrong with it.
