  • Aircon belt replacement

    Hi,
I need to replace my Timing belt and Aircon belt on a 95 2nd gen 3.0TD.

Do I need to remove the fan to get the new aircon belt on?

What is the simplest way of removing fan without disturbing viscous coupling?
Is there just one bolt that governs aircon belt tension? The vertical one? I have removed it but tensioner still very tight.
    Many thanks in advance!

Deceided to get access by taking off rad shroud/fan etc/ Seems to make life a lot easier! Especially as bought a total service kit so need to change all belts!

Loosen the nut on the tensioner pulley too, or you wont get the pulley to move. You can get the belt over the fan, but its easier with the shroud out of the way ... unless you have girly small hands.

Unfortuantly my hands are like gorillas! Thanks for the tips - all belts changed and running sweet. Reckon old aircon belt was incorrect one as adjuster was in maximum up position and now is virtually bottom position!

belts do stretch over time, hence the adjuster. if it fits then its right lol.
