so... after buying a new head..installing a new whole new cooling system..installing a new electric fan..installing a transmission cooler...changing all the fluids...and some other mods, i am now broke. i wouldn't be so upset if my surf was running fine, but she's not. I picked up my surf from the shop today after having the tranny cooler installed, and i noticed that my electric fan has stopped working, also i noticed a large pool of oil under my truck. I've check my drain plug and my filter to insure that they were tight and not leaking. Then i noticed a large build up of oil behind the head and on the firewall. i no longer can afford to have a mechanic to look at my truck and i can not go with out it, because i need it for work so i can still eat. i'm clueless on what i should do next. For now i have completely removed the hood as a substitute for the electric fan, and i also topped her up with oil. i will be taking pictures of where i think it is leaking from tomorrow and attempt to trouble shoot the fan. i am in need of some advice on what to do next. any help would be great, i am more than willing do donate to the fourm if some one would help me out of this sticky situation.thanks,

Oil build up behind the head is normally the valve cover gasket leaking.
Was the fan working before the garage got hold of your truck? If so then they should fix it.

i can find no info on how to change the 3.0 gasket, is it still usable if it was overtightened by the pig who was working on my truck? i've fixed the fan, the thermostat was shorting out, so i just bypassed the thermostat and it'll be on all the time.

The rocker cover gasket is just a rubber gasket, so you'd have to really try hard to knacker a new one through nipping the bolts up a touch much. Personally, if I were you, and these problems have been caused by the mechanic, I would take it back to them and make them sort it out.
