  • 3 litre brown wire location

i am curently converting a 2.4 to a 3 litre and i have an issue. there is a thick brown wire, about 3-5mm in diameter with a ring fixing on the end. its located at the back of the engine behind the oil filter. when i turn the ignition on it has power. any ideas where it is supposed to go?

i would say either the starter motor or the alternator is where the wire should go.Just trying to think where else the wire can go.
Which side of the engine is the wire hanging as that may give us a bit more of an idea

it turns out it is 2 small brown wires crimped together. there is about 6 inches of wire coming out of the loom. its located beneath the oil filter. could it be something to do with glow pugs? i have attached the single thick black wire with white strip to the glow plug rail.

I think but not certain but they may go to the right of the oil filter on what looks like a small stud and then a 10mm nut to hold them in place

Not if it gets power when the ignition is switched on.

right progress, i think. its not full positive in the brown wires. with the ignition on we r gettin full power to the glow plugs but wont cut out and the light on the dash wont come on. put power to the brown wire the relay clicks, put negative to it and again the relay click but this time the light on dash flashes same pace as somethin in engine bay is clicking. but not the relay. also i have no fuel going through the pump. there is fuel to the filter (which is new) and once primed there is good pressure in line to pump but nothing to injector or return line. any help is greatly appreciated.
