  • Big End Bearings

    Hello All,

I've got a 1996 3.0 TD Gen3 Hilux Surf. Sadly today it started knocking really bad and oil pressure is pretty much 0. Checked all the relavent things like the oil level and this is fine.

I've tried looking for a How To or something similar but no avail.

Could someone please assit in telling me the best way to change the Big Ends??? i.e. Engine out or in situ?

    Many thanks, Will.

    ANYONE????

Its do able insitu, but sump is very close to the front diff, lots of buggering around romoveing the diff to get the sump off. If you have an engine crane, hoik it out, it'll be easier to change the mains at the same time then.

When our 3lt done its big end, it buggered the crank and the con rod when the bearings span, so had to all come out anyway.
