heater controls getting hot

Morning all,

Has anybody ever experienced the problem where the fan control knob in the centre dash gets red hot.

Had to change out the heater controls out a few months back, to fix the last one that had melted at the back, but am now worried that it happening again.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

At a guess I would suspect the power supply to the cigar lighter socket is shorting against it somewhere as that is the only high amp wires in that area.

Is the cigar lighter on a seperate fuse that I can disconnect first, before I start taking things apart to confirm if that was the problem?
