  • I'm not usually incompetent...

... however, last night on the way to work my Smurf threw two of her v belts... the air con belt managed to stay on but is upside down in the grooves! Luckily I bought a set of spare belts a month ago.

Anyway, whilst looking at the damage this afternoon I have noticed that both tensioning bolts have snapped... joy!

So my silly question is, what do I need to do to loosen to remove the air con belt? I would imagine by loosening the air con tension bolt... but as it isn't really there..! I would imagine that I would have to 'force' the small pulley downwards with a big hammer and piece of wood maybe?

Ya don't say if ya got a 2.4 or 3.0l But as far as it goes, It will pay ya to remove the Air con unit (4 bolts) n don't toss em aside as there all different lengths. (similar for the 3.0l )
One ya removed the A/Con bolts, pull it to one side allowing ya to see where ya just removed the A/c revealing the alternator n adjuster ...
Also Search "Belt adjustment" n look at the foot of these page/s
    Hope this helps ...

There's always a Payback .... Ya won't ever see it Comin tho !!!!

nope no need to de gas it, the 4 bolts will just give you enough play to sort out your belts
