  • Hi everyone

    Just to say hi!
I've got a 1993 3.0 surf. And I love it - had it a couple of years now without problems but came across this form when looking for an answer to a problem I have with starting - sometimes it just clicks then if i try a few times it starts.
    Thanks
    Caz

    Hi and welcome!

As for the starting, sounds like the starter motor contacts could be on the way out, there's a refurb kit available from toyota or www.roughtrax4x4.com (is that right anyone?) to sort it out. Not something i've had to do yet, so that's about as much help i can offer.

Hi everyone - thanks for that. I've been reading threads and thought i'd call my local toyota specialist to see the parts prices. They said they'll replace the contacts and plunger all in for £55+VAT!
Saves me the fiddly job of getting it out lol.

Yep - i intend to stick around!

Just as a final update to this. They were good to their word and repaired the starter motor.
The total bill (dropped the truck off at 9am and collected at 11.30) inc VAT was £58.60.
This is in Norwich. If anyone would like the Toyota specialist then feel free to PM me.
          Thanks.

Nice to see another Norfolk Surfer on board. I've used the Toyota dealership in King's Lynn on occassion and found them to be generally quite helpful in times of need [I once got my key well and truelly jammed in the ignition. Toyota replaced the barrel with one cut to the same spec so that I didn't have to have different keys for the doors, all without drama and actually less than the price quoted].

Luckily, my neighbour is an Auto electrician, so I got him to refurb the inner workings of my starter motor when that went "click".

Anyway, in case you see me on the A47, heres what I look like: [Erm, yeah..just another wine red surf ]
