  • Low Fuel Indicator 3rd Gen

    Hi

Can anyone tell me does the 3rd Gen Hilux Surf have a low fuel indicator on the dash? I have run it almost to the 'E' but still nothing has come on.

    Thanks

Are you saying it will light up when it hits the 'E' on the fuel guage? How many miles roughly is left in the tank when it comes on?

        Thanks

If it's like the one on the 2.4's it's a random thing. Sometimes comes on, but not always. Anything from 20 miles to you've just run out!

I've done 30 miles after the light came on, on my 3rd gen. Wouldn't want to do it too often as it does make your corn chute twitch a bit wondering if your gonna run out

              mornin all

yep - the 3rd gen does has a orange low fuel watning luight. It's at the bottiom right hand corner of the fuel guage.
Mine only come on when I'm well below the "E" level and does make me nervous as I'm almost sure it's about to run dry (never has yet).
According to the manual, when the light comes on you have approx 8 litres of fuel left but who wants to take the risk.

Best way to check is when you are just on the "E" mark, take the truck and point it up a steepish hill/road (the float is in the front of the tank) and the light shoud come on.

As far as I know there is no way to test it (apart from taking the dash out & bridging the wires)

              hope this helps
