performance tuning?

i want to tweak my kzn 185. seen the blurb about powerflow exhausts and tony's k&n jobbie.
anyone had a longlife exhaust done.
where can i get a decent induction kit for my truck, anyone?
i read about motec doing ecu re-maps (£350), and getting between 3 -10mpg increase in economy, working more in favour of the larger engine. so i figured that if i only got a 5mpg increase, i would re-coup my money easily within a year.
i already drive like miss daisy most of the time, and did mpg check (usual trick, fill tank to brim, drive lots,fill tank back to brim, and calculate.) i got 29.1mpg with some motorway, sat in traffic jams in newport, general pootling around south wales. quite pleased, but any help is good.
also like the sound of that fuel cat thing, anyone tried it yet?

and before you start thinking, why don't you get something else more eco friendly.

on the plus side, i've done most of the audio thing.

i pod controller
6 1/2" mutant speakers front and rear (yes rear)

A few months back there was a Surf advertised on Pistonheads. Slammed with chrome bling wheels.

It looked hideous. Whats the point?? a waste of a good Surf if you ask me.

If you increase the performance which is really limited then you'll just get worse MPG figures.

The engine ECU remapping is just telling the engine to overfuel/stave of fuel so you either gain or lose performance in the same you will lose/gain mpg figures.

Either way, There is no real modifications you can carry out that will be worth the money (unless you dont have an intercooler, you could fit one?!)

an also whats "big hoops" ?! Thats the only thing on there that i dont understand!

It's a simple job on a 2.4, I believe theres some issues with it on a 3.0ltr that makes it a bit more complicated but mostly its just a case of getting the right tube an the right size intercooler.

Body lift might be needed dependant on the pipes route etc

ahh!! Glad you cleared it up for me mate!


Would probably be a total sh!t trying to lower a Surf in the UK. Importing parts would end up costing a few quid!
