  • Timing belt timer

    Ok
Done the timing belt, couldnt be easier. Except that a couple of the four bolts
on the cover were hard to start and they have a lead in spigot before the thread starts. Very strange.
Anyhow does anyone know how to reset the timing belt warning light please.
By the way Halfords were able to supply an original equipment ADL timing belt for £21. (Toyota don't make timing belts) few car manufacturers do.

Remove the rubber grommet in the clear dial fascia and use something to push the reset button actually on the dial fascia.

what 3 ltr do you have? that fix is only on the 2nd gen... on the 3rd i think you've either got to take out the instruments and press a button there or short across 2 pins on the diagnostic port... um... someone will pop in and set that straight though!... i can't remember!

Hello Toyotass, just taken the timing belt cover off of my 1996 3.0 ltr to change belt, but can only see the timing mark on the cam shaft !!

I've turned the engine over with a spanner on the cramk but still can't see any other marks. Have you got any suggestions please (pictures would be very useful too if you know of any).

          Cheers mate

run the engine as normal , switch off , mark 2 positions on all cogs you see , fit new belt and stick to the timing marks you made. sorted.
