I HAVE JUST HAD 1 HOUR LUNCH AND MANAGED TO PERSUADE
2 MECHANICS TO HELP ME LOOK FOR THE ADD RELAY AND GUESS
WHAT ..........THEY COULDNT FIND IT EITHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE HAVE IN OUR BODYSHOP A UK L/CRUISER WITH A 1KZTE
I HAVE READ THE ENGINE MANUAL AND IT HAS A FUEL SPILL VALVE RELAY
IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE ADD/FUEL SPILL RELAY ON MY VEHICLE.....
SO I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT WHERE IT WAS (ON P/S RELAY BLOCK-
IN FOOTWELL)..........
GUESS WHAT......
IT AINT THEIR EITHER !
I PHONED THE T@#TS AT TOYOTA UK AND THEY WONT HELP -ME !!!!!!!!

Add Relay Or Not Add Relay

Now Having My New Epc Uploaded And Working I Decided To
Locate The Add Relay.to My Horror The Epc Says No !!!!!
My Vehicle Being A Ssrg Does Not Have A Add Relay
Only The Ssrx Ssr And Ssrv Have One. Now Totally
Confused I Have Ordered A New 4wd Control Computer
Cause Thats The Only Thing I Havnt Changed.....

Add Relay Not !

Having Looked Futher Up Under The Dash I Found The 2nd
Relay Block And To My Surprise Their Is No Add Relay Their !
So My Vehicle Doesnt Have A Relay So What Does It Have ?????
The New 4wd Ecu Arrived And I Tried That And It Still Does Not Work ! Running Out Of Ideas And Patience !

Do you actually have multimode 4wd, or is it part time 4wd like the 2nd gens?

You may find you don't have ADD on the multimode trucks.

All the hassle's i've had with 3rd gen 4wd issues have been withthe solonoid on the back of the tranfers case, and both time its been cos someone has taken them apart and not put them back together properly and the interlocks don't line up. (once was a Toyota dealer! who then sent the truck to me!! )

Once Again Tony Is Right !
Having Stripped The Electronic Transfer Shift
Actuator From The Centre Diff We Found That The
Brushes And Motor Were Corroded Inside.a Quick
Clean With The Dremmel And Reseal With Silicone
And Hey Presto I Have 4wd ! After 9 Months Without
Many Thanks Tony For Your Advice And Guidance In
The Matter !
I Am Now Off To Find A Large Muddy Field And Have A Good
Play

Why did you not check that the front prop shaft was engaging (or not as it seems) which would have saved you a heap of time and probably money. Your model has, as you have said, not got an ADD relay but seems to have a very similar system as the second generation with ADD and the shift actuator on the transfer case. The ADD will not function unless this is working because this has detection switches which activate the ADD.
