filter flow arrow.

For some reason, the filter i recently installed doesn't make the fuel to flow with the arrow pointing towards the engine as it should be. but when reverting the hoses, diesel flows easily to the pump.
is really necessary to connect the filter following the arrow?
filter will be damaged working the other way?
any clue about the lack of flow with arrow towards engine?

pipes connected up wrong way round? i have not seen a filter with arrows on

I'm guessing you have installed a heated filter head (as in other post) and this is what you are talking about. Yes the fuel should flow through the head in the right direction for the filter to work properly.
