    Hi All

I have a bit of belt squeal and think a belt could be slipping.

Can anybody tell me where you adjust the belts and if there is any pitfalls or tips to ensure I don't balls it up?

    many thanks

      Which belt is slipping?

Once you find that out, do a search on the forum on how to tension it.

there is a tensioner just below the air con pump fpr the a/c belt and i think you need to adjust the alternator to tighten the fan belts

And the PS one adjusts via the pump. You still need to figure out what one is slipping, no point in tensioning a belt that's not slack.

We've got lots to say, that kind of reply only gets our backs up though.

The quality of the help given is proportionate to the quality of the question asked. You didn't say what belt was loose, so we were unable to tell you how to tension it.

There is a locknut on the alternater tensioner, can be found under the alternater facing the rear of the engine bay, tensioner bolt can be acessed from above with a 10mm socket and long extention bar,I think the locknut is 12mm.Did mine yesterday, drunk since then so not suer of locknut size.
I swear to drunk I`m not God.

                  Re Belt tensioning

                  Thanks for the help guys

Now I know a little more of where to adjust I can get down and dirty and have a good look to see which one is noisy.

My comment for a reply was not to taken as criticism. I appreciate the assistance but I know that a post can quickly slip out of sight at busy times.

                  Thanks again
