  • Wheel bearing woe

    Hi
Needed a rear off side wheel bearing for the dreaded mot, got one from milners and had the local spanner monkey fit it at the garage.
First trip out and the new wheel bearing broke up, not a fault by trusty spanner monkey but a faulty bearing which cracked in half....

Milners ( god bless em ) replaced this free of charge, and the new one was fitted...

Next thing was an intermittant clattering from Rsend, spanner monkey then removed half shaft etc inspected then replaced. All was again quiet..

    For 5 miles............

More clattering then back to garage, where Mr monkey now thinks part of the bearing has shot up the axle and is in the diff case, causing this sporadic clattering.

Surfy is in the docs awaiting both halfshafts and diff removal for the removal of said ball bearings.
When the "new" collapsed bearing was removed there was only 6 balls and 2 halfs. anyone an idea as to how many there should be ? or had any trouble with milners bearings ?

    Cheers
    Keith

Hi, if you can give me the bearing ref, I might be able to tell you. The ref (s) are on the side of the bearing, I presume it's a taper roller, and if it's imperial I'll require the numbers from both sides, (inner & outer bearings).

What make are the bearings you are being supplied?

            Cheers, Damian.
