  • Exhaust purchase

    Hi all

I finally fitted my towbar today, and while I was under the Surf, I thought I'd have a good old look round.

Looks like the exhaust rear tail pipe has rusted through and needs replacing. Then looked at main section, and looks like main box will not last a lot longer, so may as well do both at the same time.

What really confuses me is the difference between Milners, Roughtrax and Ebay.

    Main silencer: Roughtrax £169 + VAT / Milner £70 + VAT / Ebay £62.99 inc. VAT

    Tail pipe: Roughtrax £73 / Milner £35 / Ebay £45 and £60

Now I'm not necessarily bothered about a fiver or tenner either way, as service & delivery speed also counts, but these differences are quite considerable... and *double* the price... from one dealer to another?

BTW the ebay price is from a Jap dealer I have purchased from before.

Does anyone know if this is due to the difference between pattern / original parts or..... what?

    Thanks.

Forget that mate, ditch back and middle box and buy a transit pipe with a small silencer and have a side exit that comes out before it gets to the back wheel, sounds quiet but better, and its cheaper with only a little modding required, a dam sight cheaper than replacement and itll stay where it is offroad too.

Do you mean transit as in Ford transit?

If so, cool! What does that do to performance & economy?

      Cheers

£270 is a good price me thinks!
I need a new middle and back pipe as mine snapped off. I like the idea of a Transit one, does anyone know what one I need to buy?

If you got to replace the middle and tail anyway go to the powerflow site look up your local franchise and see how much they would want to make up a stainless - side exit, all theirs are made to measure anyway and if you are looking at a side exit they could make it in one from the cross pipe flange and as it would be shorter than mine and less bending and fabbing would probably be even cheaper...it dont cost to ask, they quoted without seeing the truck £275....ended up at £270 inc everything

Thanks for the replies guys - I'll check out the transit thing, and also call Power flow Tuesday.

I'd love a Powerflow, especially as it will last longer than the Surf, but money is a bit tight right now. so I'll have to weigh it all up!
