  • Center Console

    Hi all,

I tried the search, have downloaded about all Toyota manuals I found, but for the heck of it I can't find the instructions on:

How to remove the center console /center face plate (heater-AC control, emergency light button, etc) ...

Need to replace most if not all lights in there (didn't check the 10A fuse yet, but some of the lights where out already before the whole panel went dark....).

Where are the screws/bolts/clips holding the panel in place and how do I remove/install it without breaking half of it?

    Thanx for replies,

    thjakits

      Hey Nero,

      thanx for the reply!

Unfortunately I didn't post my ride: It is a lefthand drive 3rd gen (2002, TurboDIesel). Your links get me all I need for the 2nd gen.
I went out to the car and checked anyway:

It seems the first step is to just "rip out" the cover over the gear shifters, then keep ripping on the center console face

I hate this kind of action, as I am always lucky to break some clip or the other.
Not in a hurry with the lights so I will check back later if someone can confirm how to access all th little lights in the center dash....

Need to change the timing belt first....

      Best Regards,

      thjakits

        its an easy job mate,
        1. Undothe two nuts inside the cubby hole where the hand break is.
        2. undo the i think four screws, might be two, on either side of the floor consul this should then slide back.
        3. gently remove the face plate over the heater controls after you have taken the slide button things off, be cafefull with the face plate as it can break.
        4. Undo the two screws and remove them

The centre section should now pull forward, disconect the clock and the hazard switch and cig lighter. and jobs done

putting it back together is just the reverse.

        Hope this helps..
