fuel again

hi all
has anyone any idea why my 3.0 surf is so bad on fuel
when i had it i was getting 28mpg on mw and 26 around town
it then dropped suddenly to 24mpg on mw and 22 around town
its now gone to 22.5mpg on mw and 20 around town
the increase in fuel use seams to be happening all of a sudden and
with no obvious cause i stiil do the same miles and go the same places
as i have done since i have had this surf
i do 240 miles week in week out
has anyone got any ideas i don,t expect to get real good milage
but surly somthing is going wrong for it to drop so quickly

When was it last serviced?

Have you checked for a fuel leak?

Are your tires pumped up?

Are you running on diesel or a diesel veg mix?

When did it last see injector cleaner ?

Has the fuel filter been changed recently ?

are you leaving it running as you scrape on these frosty mornings ?

Firstly i think your MPG is good. But it will definately reduce when weather is colder, as it will with all cars.

I get 23mpg around town, which I think is about right.

thanks for the replys
everything sujested has been done oil and all filters are done every six months
i,ve been running sirfs for some 14 years but this is the first auto
and the pump cant be turned down
i dont expect to get high miles to the gal but its the sudden drop that i can,t get to grips with
i run on pure diesel but i am thinking of a veg twin tank system
has anyone tried it
also is 50mph the correct speed for the overdrive to cut in and can it be changed

Lots of info on veg oil and, I think, one or two with twin tanks. But why bother? Just pour it in.

Have you checked the ATF fluid? Just something different to the manuals....
