  • Oil light

My oil light is staying on for about 3-6 seconds after the truck is started up then goes off, is this an indication that an oil change is needed?

Could be just low. Have you checked the level? How long is it since your last oil change? If it's more than 3,000 miles then I'd change it anyway. And remember to use the correct oil.

Well the oil is sitting exacly between the two holes on the stick, will look at the history to see if the service is due but 3000 miles between changes that's a short time!?

I use 15w40 Semi Synthetic. 3000 miles for a diesel isn't that bad, keeps your engine in tip top condition.

I wouldn't bother with the service history, I'd give it a good flush and get the old oil out now; there's no way of knowing what the last owner put in it.

My 300c does 12.5k Miles between oil changes and that's a diesel too.
even my old crappy Rangie did 6k!
